“What we think or what we know or what we believe is in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do.”
John Ruskin – English Writer, Artist, Philanthropist
I’ve been thinking about my next move for some time now. Rewiring myself for a new adventure that is a small part work I enjoy, a bigger part retirement and ALL of it full of discovery. However, that’s part of the challenge. I’ve been thinking about it but not moving. I’m in my head and not taking the important next steps that will lead me down that magical road.
I have had to remind myself that…
Action restores the soul. Action builds confidence and leads forward. When we choose not to act, we choose to live in fear.
Fear can simply be the unknown. It’s hard to let go of what we know – even if we know it no longer serves us well. And then there is the fear of failing. In reality, the fear should be embraced and a fearless step taken forward. I’m not certain I believe in failure. I do believe in opportunities to learn. And when we learn something from an experience that something will drive new and better informed action.
If I take the time to reflect on my action, I will find clarity. What newness has come to light that swells with possibility?
It’s time to get back to meditating. Meditating my way to creativity. And then on the days I can’t sit still, I will MOVE. Let my mind wander without judgment. Non-judgment is a wondrous thing. I find life…freedom…without false limits.
Want to join me on this adventure?
What do you seek? What do you want? Very simply – ask for it. Surround yourself with people and places that feed that hunger.
Believe in your dream. Live your hope. If you don’t, who will?
Listen, watch, see what the universe sends your way. It could be a person who you meet and who affirms your thinking. An idea that comes from somewhere outside of you that feeds your dream. Something a child in all her wisdom says that brings simple clarity to a complex idea.
The answers are all around us if we only stop to listen, see and learn.
AN ADDITIONAL THOUGHT…
If my question of action you took in the direction of social justice then here is a quote you might appreciate.
“We who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
